Two days ago, a fracking well in Canton, Pennsylvania exploded, spilling thousands of gallons of toxic chemicals over farms, fields and the private property of local families. The chemicals even flowed into a creek that connects to the Susquehanna River.
Unfortunately, because of Dick Cheney's Halliburton loophole for the oil and gas industry, the corporation that runs the well, Chesapeake Energy Corporation, is under no legal obligation to pay for their mess or for the medical expenses of the people that may suffer health problems as a result.
Today, on Earth Day, it is more important than ever that we re-double our efforts to pass the FRAC Act in Congress and hold the oil and gas production industry to the same standards as any other industry to ensure the safe protection of America's drinking water.

And..........Become members of every environmental organization you can. These fine folks counter the paid lobbiests and serve to protect us rather than pad profits.
We had a spring county meeting at my Penn Dot shed last Thursday and we were told there are 2,500 wells already drilled in our area. Then they said that there are over 35,000 permits for more wells to be drilled. They are killing our roads, our woods and apparently not being held accountable for their actions. There was a frack hauling truck that wrecked and when asked,he lied and said he was hauling fresh water. He got a slap on the wrist...
People were raped by the lax enforcement under Bush. We don't need to destroy aquifers to obtain gas, there are many alternatives just not as lucrative for Oil interests.
Fracing & it's like are insanity that may take centuries to heal. Get a bit involved now because it's too late when there are drills parked on your lawn.
