I used to own 5 acres up in Wash state. We had wild asparagus growing there. First time I ever ate any and thought it quite tastey. Store bought's not the same at all.

I have asparagus in my garden every year. It comes up fast and furious early in the season and needs to be harvested and eaten right away, but damn it's good with a nice t-bone, baked potato and a couple of Bloody Ceasars For us it's a sign that summer is coming! Eat enough of it and your pee starts to turn green and smell funny.

And yah, the store bought variety just isn't the same.

This particular farm is starting to make a name for itself throughout the region up here.

This is not the best picture, but it's the first thing you see when you drive by it. It says Asperges, which is French for asparagus. I need to take a picture early in the year when the flowers are blooming and the mowed words really stand out.
