What is your Signature Food?

What is Portland known for when it comes to food. Every city has their thing, whether it be seafood or cheese steak, what's yours?

I am a native to the Pacific Northwest, but have never lived in Portland. For the past 5 years my wife and I visit P-Town we stop at Otto's Sausage Kitchen and stock up on award winning hot dogs and sausages. They are made without all of the preservatives and freeze well.

And you cannot visit Portland without stopping in a one of the McMenamins (McMenamins - Home Page) pubs/hotels/theaters/etc... McMenamins is, in my opinion, the epitome of Portland Oregon. All of the locations have the same food, beer, wine, whiskey, wonderful artwork, and the same relaxing and sometimes magical environment.

It's probably the abundance of (quality) Thai and Vietnamese restaurants.

Maybe not food but the food cart concept/scene is picking up in the PDX area.

Nothing specifically as a dish, I'd say, but there's a boatload of great restaurants.

I'd recommend steaks at the Acropolis. But, then again, I'm a dirty meat eater.

Hmm, what food is Portland known for?
There are great restaraunts all over the city with such a variety it is really hard to say.

I think Portland should make it's signature food Lasagne because I like it

You can make it so many ways I think it is a natural dish for Portlands variety of tastes!

Well Salmon and Pinot Noir for starters. But really not known for a single dish, but rather the quality of the ingredients. Organic, sustainable, proximate, with many restaurants having unique relationships with growers, craft producers or even have their own farms. Try Meriwether's Restaurant
