Anyone else tired of CMS?

I'm just curious if anyone else is tired of hearing about them and all their financial problems. I know things are tight for everyone but they seem to have the foresight of a 5 year old.

ChEaPsK87 09-22-2010 02:35 PM

and what happens with the NC education lottery $$$??? they advertised making over 1 billion dollars for the lottery...where is it going? not towards our kids and teachers futures!!!

94yjay 09-22-2010 08:15 PM

i think 99% was going to the lobbyist pockets, 1% to education; I remember a big debate about it a few years ago

mightydog78 09-26-2010 03:25 PM

i worked for a company that installed smartboards all across CMS and last year our busniess went down due to the fact that so much funding was cut.
i wish people would take education more seriously and funding it...

They actually do a pretty good job with what they have...

a blind and tied up monkey could probably do better...just my opinion though.

I think the news channels would be awefully bored without CMS and all of their stupid ideas.

03jeepx 09-30-2010 12:28 PM

hearing about cms and their money problems is quite annoying sometimes, and the news would not have much news without them.

Between CMS and CMPD I don't think they would have anything to discuss other then the weather.

Aren't the Concord schools in Cabarrus County?

blue_monster 10-08-2010 06:18 AM

It's a matter of what the voters of Charlotte value. If they valued education, the schools would get better funding and would perform better.

I completely agree with this, the schools are falling off to the wayside.

it is a different school system;
it appears that the 'dumbing down' is in effect.
I disagree with the new implemetation class-rooms. Each child; is different; each child has different learning speeds; each child should not be expected to ''pass'' all test.

any test;) I could pass; if you dumbed it down enough

We homeschool. Send your child to public school is tandamount to child abuse.

Not to mention the "Education lottery".

Why didn't they tell anyone that the budget for schools wouldn't increase when the lottery was approved, only the source of the money. All of these school officials need to be tarred and feathered, starting with Peter Gorman.

What is wrong with this idea!!!! They are your kids, you want them better educated YOU PAY FOR IT. Don't expect the goverment or anyone else to pay your way. This is why this country is in the shape it is. Everyone wants something but they don't want to pay for it. Instead of getting a tax break for dependants you should be charged more if you want the government to pay for education. I've seen todays kids there are not many I want to invest my tax dollars in.

It has nothing to do with taxes. It's a gross mismangement of resources for as long as I can remember.

WE ARE PAYING FOR IT. Our taxes pay for public education. The problem is the government screws up everything it touches.

you dont get it! it is the NC EDUCATION LOTTERY! it advertised raising over 1 BILLION dollars a few YEARS ago. WHERE DID THE 1 BILLION GO? YOU my friend is what is wrong with america. all WORKING americans pay an average of 30% of their paychecks every week to local, state and federeal gov't. not to mention sales tax, gas tax, property tax! soon we are gonna have to pay a BREATHING TAX if things keep going like this. please GTFO of my country and take all the illegal immigrants with you!

straycat 12-22-2010 08:54 AM

our neighborhood school is not very good academically, my kid goes to a charter school. if the neighborhood cms school was decent i'd send him there. i moved to clt in 94 and cms has been in the news nonstop. first the busing issues, now budgetary issues. not sure if it's really better or worse than other large metropolitan areas or just that it gets thrown around a lot in talking points. i'm paying for it along with every other mecklenburg county tax payer and regardless of whether or not i have a child enrolled i'd like it to be successfully educating children.

It appears that the lottery is a scam as far as the school system is concerned. Why doesn't Gorman take a pay cut to save a couple of teachers jobs?
