Montreal, Quebec

Im from Montreal Qc, and have plenty to share about this cool city, i know it inside and out.

i can only find the united states part of the forums, and hope they implement a outside the US section

RiponredTJ 09-23-2010 07:17 PM

I hear the powers that be are mulling it over.
An international section would be nice.
Might even end up helping American travelers in many ways.
Cheers Fang! Haven't seen you around lately.
Hope everything is good.
Rip.

Ditto on Canada. I'm from Alberta and British Columbia.

It would probably do better than a lot of state forums.

I, myself, am not from Canada, but I know that I'd be very interested in talking to some of the guys up there.

One of my favorite things about this site is being able to talk to people in a specific area - whether it be to plan a trip, or just to feel peoples' different opinions from across the country, and I think it'd be amazing to expand to other countries.

I know y'all are busy, Keith - but just know some of the regulars would enjoy this, too :)

Also from Calgary, Alberta. It'd be nice to see some support for the Canucks.

I like the way you think.
Cheers.

I'm also from the Montreal area, joined today, looking forward to seeing other Canadians here and the idea of having it broken down into states and hopefully in the near future into provinces too makes it an ideal situation when you looking for local information.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. One day
I'd like to go check it out. Looks like a cool place
to visit.

Douglas 09-30-2010 10:51 PM

Another Canadian here who would love to see a forum...

havasu 09-30-2010 10:53 PM

Welcome Douglas!

I spent a good chunk of my life in Montreal--truly one of North America's greatest cities. I've sampled a lot of them, too! Nothing beats downtown Montreal in the summer. Ahh, the pretty girls and crazy hot weather. Yes, my American friends, it actually gets hot in Canada. ;)

Will be there over Christmas... hopefully they'll get some early snow and I can go snowboarding at Mont Tremblant or something.

I'm from Red Deer Alberta, it'll be nice once this forum gets some traffic through it but until then hello everybody.

Your more than welcome up here any time you want, it is a beautiful country. I would love to see more of the states as well but unfortunatly haven't had much time to travel south the last few years. I would love to go to mardi gra and do a road trip through the south.

paddyboy2u 10-06-2010 04:21 PM

And here is another Albertan checking in to say that "yes it would be nice to see the all the provinces on here too."

Red Deer, what a cool name for a town!

RiponredTJ 10-06-2010 07:34 PM

Try "St. Louis du Ha Ha".
Cracks me up every time I drive through it.

lowflare 10-07-2010 08:34 AM

Looks like i'm the 1st Manitoban here. I usually travel west ,but, have plans to go east next summer. Maybe some good info on here about places to see.

Keith

Let us know what you expect from a vacation (party, nature, culture. or....) and I'm sure you'll get at least a few great pointers here.

lecoq 10-07-2010 04:27 PM

Hi. Checking in from Calgary but born and raised in Eastern Townships (Cowansville and Sutton to be exact) Glad to see there is more of us in here!!

RiponredTJ 10-07-2010 04:48 PM

I used to love skiing at Sutton. Every time there was a snowstorm, we'd blow classes and try to be the first in line when the lifts opened. That was back in the late 70's early 80's.

That whole part of the townships is still a beautiful area.

RiponredTJ 10-07-2010 07:14 PM

This is the Montreal section, right?

So here's downtown Montreal in winter looking down from Mont Royal.

Buckminster Fuller's Geodesic Dome. This was originally the US Pavillion at Expo 67. There's some kind of tourist trap in there now, so thankfully it's close to the Casino.

The Biodome and Olympic Stadium. The Biodome is pretty neat.

The western tip of the Island of Montreal.
Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue.
Great campus town.

Unless you fly in you'll need to cross a bridge to visit Montreal.
