Best "hole in the wall" restaurants

I was thinking of asking just about good barbeque joints but I love any sort of dive with unexpectedly food.

I think best hole in the wall for BBQ is Allen and Son. The place looks like an old house and its situated by some railroad tracks that may or may not still be in use.

Sushi Yoshi is kind of a hole in the wall place behind Hardees at the intersection of 15-501 and Old Durham road and has really good sushi but not really sure any Japenese restaurant is a "dive".

BBQ Lodge

I'm partial to BBQ Lodge out at 4600 Capital Blvd. Get the Family Style Eastern NC style Pork or Chicken, Fried/Grilled Chicken, Puppies, and all the fixins'.

Allen & Sons is definitely the best Q in the Triangle.

There are three simple criteria for a good pork place:

1) Must have the 10 commandments posted on the wall
2) Health score must be below a 90
3) Restaurant must be an old house (bonus points for house on wheels)

Allen & Sons meets all 3. Unfortunately, there aren't any wheels on the bottom of the restaurant, though.

i hear the mansion at O street is a quaint place for sunday brunch though.
i gotta admit, most of my trips to dc were at night.
and they were to unpopular places usually.
