Approximately $145,000 value, 4 acres, no income taxes..Tax is just under $2,000...Numerous gas/oil wells in the area keeping tax bite down. (they contribute to county schools).

Evaluation and taxes went up about 40% in last 4 years.

If your a homeowner and am on social security disability or war related veterans disability or if your a volunteer fire department member or EMT be sure to check with your local assessor's office to see if they offer special exemptions for things such as I listed above...

Some towns, villages do and some don't but even those that do don't really broadcast it so check into it where you live and you just might qualify for a special exemption that will shave money off your yearly property tax bill....Every year have to resubmit the special exemption form along with your proof ( social security disability benefit award letter for example ) along with your tax return showing your income but it is will worth taking advantage of the special exemptions that are out there but many are not even aware they exist...I know I wasn't.

.

Southern-tier of Western New York State. House appraised at $220k on 5 acres. Total property and school tax is $8,100. The freakin' school tax alone is $3900 (for a dink squat school with dwindling student population no less). Add in the state income tax plus other niceties like 8% sales tax and really high gas prices and what do you have ? A stinkin' money pit !
Luckily i retired last year and am getting ready to sell my house and move to someplace more reasonable. We're looking at Tennessee, the Carolina's, or maybe Florida. After six decades in this crazy state, I'm throwing in the towel !
