my friend asked me if i wanted to marry him so i could get health insurance and he could get paid more while deployed. well, i agreed and never got my insurance, but he got paid.

i spent more time trying to get divorced than i did married. what a joke.

Really? You should've gotten health insurance if you were married to a service member

Hah he must've done something wrong. Tricare isn't really something you can "get screwed" with. It's bigger than him or his ssgt - it's a legal requirement for all service members and dependents. That's unfortunate to hear.

What reason did they give you?

Did you love the guy?

Jake7, you've hit the nail on the head. It has become a me first world and you have to give a little now and then.

I'm 66, my wife was seventeen and I was nineteen when we got married. If I could relive my life exactly the same day for day I would sign up for the redo today, no question. Hope it works as good for you Jake7.

Never been married, not with the paper-church-ritual bits and not interested in such.
I figured IF I ever got married, we would use her last name, just to toss some wrenches in the gears.
WHY it it accepted that Women have to alter their names?!

Been with the same Lady (Monogamy) since latter '96, my latter 30s.
We're better not married yet as far as we're concerned we are married.

Used to be the Common Law deal in NC (after 7 years together) yet not any longer, so its become what it isn't.
She was married 3 times before we got together and she wasn't the problem--the problems were those males.

Marriage or No marriage--it's what YOU MAKE OF IT!!
----
Using LOGIC, it should be a severe pain in the arse to get married and easy to get unmarried instead of the loopy accepted societal practice.

My wife and I have both been through hell and back with each other in the 34 years since we first started dating. We've been married 27 years now and I have to honestly say that despite all the misery and grief, we're still pretty happy

I think Blank_doubt hit the nail on the head.
