An example just pulled from this Bible at random..........
You've suggested that where one's own interpretation conflicts with the "teachers", the teacher's interpretation should be preferred. Why, then, should an atheist whose rejection of Christianity is based upon his understanding of the bible further study the bible as you suggested in #98? Shouldn't we instead be pushed to seek the more-correct interpretations of these "teachers"?

What of the case where the "revelation" in question is the understanding that the Bible is a work of fiction?
Quote:

The bible is one of the ways God reveals himself. If that revelation is realized, and accepted, a relationship ensues. Based on that relationship, one will interpret the Word of God in an evolving, ever changing, way....better known as sanctification. While revelation is monogistic (God alone acts.), the sanctification process is synergistic (Man acts, as a result of, and in relationship w/ God.). Everyone who has God revealed to them through scripture matures/learns/understands that relationship differently. As a relationship builds between a believer and God, a greater depth is realized in relation to revelation, which in turn determines ones interpretation.

Basically, you can't have a relationship with someone you don't know. If someone hasn't been introduced/revealed to you, you can't build on a relationship with them. Then there are those who are offered a relationship, through introduction, but choose not to go further than the introduction.

Priority of word relationship is as follows:
1 revelation/introduction
2 acceptance or rejection of that relationship
As used in this sentence, is "acceptance" synonymous with "assumption"?
Quote:
3 (if accepted) sanctification/growing in that relationship
4 interpretation

Since every relationship is different.....every interpretation is different as well. "Schools of divinity" have their own specific interpretation based on the theology of it's founders. For example Methodist seminaries will have an Arminian slant, while a Presbyterian seminary will have a Calvinist slant, and so on. While the "interpretation" may differ, The Savior, Christ Jesus, is never changing. His work and purpose is the same for all Christian religions.

"Interpretation" without revelation based on a relationship is merely "parroting"!

Since all revelation is personal....it could, and very well may be, fiction to someone...in context. The difference I'm hoping to make is the difference in worldly and spiritual revelation. God does not reveal Himself as false. Therefore, if fiction is the end result, in relation to scripture, that revelation was not from the author, God. There are several theological answers to such a assessment but that is not your question.

As used in this sentence, is "acceptance" synonymous with "assumption"? Personally, from my experience, in reference to this topic, No. The relationship I'm describing is experiential and experiencing the divine in one's life goes beyond an assumption. It is real to the person in a way that impacts the remainder of their lives and requires an acceptance that does not waver......an acceptance that is recognized as having eternal ramifications. There is a point in the sanctification process that one no longer assumes their eternal appointment but is assured of it. This is referred to as "Preservation of the Saints or Once Saved always Saved".
Again, this is my experience speaking.

Religion? What a scam. In its conception and practice. It makes no sense.

A Chuckle is Good

There was a little old lady, who every morning stepped onto her front porch,
raised her arms to the sky, and shouted:
'PRAISE THE LORD!'

One day an atheist moved into the house next door.
He became irritated at the little old lady.

Every morning he'd step onto his front porch after her and yell:
'THERE IS NO LORD!'

Time passed with the two of them carrying on
this way every day.

One morning, in the middle of winter, the little old lady
stepped onto her front porch and shouted:
'PRAISE THE LORD! Please Lord, I have no food and I am
starving, provide for me, oh Lord!

The next morning she stepped out onto her porch and
there were two huge bags of groceries sitting there.

'PRAISE THE LORD!' she cried out.
'HE HAS PROVIDED GROCERIES FOR ME!'

The atheist neighbor jumped out of the hedges and shouted:
'THERE IS NO LORD; I BOUGHT THOSE GROCERIES!!'

The little old lady threw her arms into the air and shouted:
'PRAISE THE LORD! HE HAS PROVIDED ME WITH GROCERIES
AND MADE THE DEVIL PAY FOR THEM!'

SMILE AND PASS THIS ON.
(I LOVE IT--- GOD IS SO GOOD)
AMEN.....

I've got a joke too.

One morning, two kids were born in a hospital. They grew up next door to eachother. The first child was raised to enjoy life for the sake of living. He spent his free time hiking, biking, going to movies, hanging out with friends, reading, writing, working, teaching, building, demolishing, planting trees, drinking coffee, drinking beer, playing baseball, visting county fairs, driving around the countryside, eating ice cream, or making love. The second child was raised to live this life for the sake of the next life. He spent one day a week on his knees, devoting himself to the study of one particular book, winning awards for his regular attendance. Then one day, they both died. The End.

Wanting and hoping that there is an afterlife doesn't make it exist any more than wanting and hoping this "joke" to be funny.

Enjoy existence while you possess it. Mourn the deaths of others, but never your own.

70 miles from Amarillo, a town called Groom

Amazing Sculptures - This is a true story in Groom Texas....a town of about 500 people....

Right outside of town, a piece of land was donated to a sculptor
so he could display his works.
All of these sculptures are made of metal, even the crosses.
