Christianity's been around for well over 2,000 years - I'd be very surprised if Oprah'ism took it over in just a couple hundred years. I mean, I know Oprah's powerful, but wow.

Good call Funetical. You're, if possible, more correct with your assignment of Xmas rather than Christmas.

The abbreviation Xmas for Christmas dates from the mid 16th century. The X is the Greek letter chi, the initial in the word ?Christ.? In spite of a long and respectable history, today Xmas is offensive to many, perhaps because of its associations with advertising. It is not used in formal writing.

I'm sure your intent was to clarify, and not offend, as the definition noted...right?

Its a Christmas tree, and the break is called Christmas holidays.
I say Merry Christmas to everyone, and only hand out cards that say Merry Christmas.
If some poeple do not like it, thats their problem, not mine.
