Haha. Yeah that was a great hunt. Very cardio intensive though...

I would love to hunt ram. However, you hiked 8 hours packing out. Chukkar hunting is more like 8 hours per bird!

Yeah we probably hiked about 60 miles give or take at 8500-13000 feet over the course of a few days. Getting the sheep out was by far the worst though. Straight up and down loose shale rock slide area. Both our backs were hurting on that one!

I ran into a few of them on the Tahoe rim trail one year. Talk about scary especially since we didn't have a firearm that could take them down. The big one shook his body and we could see every muscle in his body flex then he ran off.

Yeah. I hear they are entertaining the idea of opening tags on them since they are euthanizing so many of them for coming down into camp grounds and houses.

It is time that we lobby the state government to increase tags in some areas. I nearly hit a black bear and her cubs in Washoe Valley a few weeks ago. This was my fifth encounter with a bear and cubs, in all cases a twin birth. Why aren't we offered bear tags in this area? The Department of Wildlife will gladly send a crew to capture and relocate bears, but we don't get to hunt them.

We missed the last NDOW meeting during which bear hunting was on the agenda. Contact NDOW now and ask for a summary of the discussion.

I heard that it was an 8-0 in favor of a bear season. The Bear happens to be my favorite animal and I hate to see them hunted. However, being a hunter and conservationist myself I do understand the need for population control. Hopefully they actually do there research so that we don't decimate the population.
