the great northeast

Howdy all, im also new around the site but have lived in Nevada all my life. I grew up fishing and hunting around the Reno area and have always had great luck. Recenlty i moved up to northeastern nevada (Elko co.) and the hunting and fishing here is even better. Besides being more abundant, less crowded and easier to access, there are a lot more species to hunt fish, Everything from big horns to mountain goats and cats and elk.

The fishing is far better also, we have some high mountain lakes that are postcard perfect and full of brook, rainbow and even golden trout. the lower lakes are all full of perch, bluegill, and yes plenty of bass

At the risking of the post going on forever i wont even talk about the bird hunting which happens to be my favorite.

I love Elko, my grandfather owned land out there when I was a kid. Some of my favorite trips were out there hiking and fishing. I never got in any hunting out there. Someday I will get an elk tag.

Topaz tag tournament

Don't forget Topaz opens today the 1'st they have stocked a ton of tagged trout out there. You get different prizes and entries into the grand prize depending on what tag you get. Also the biggest fish of the week get's $50 the second largest is $25. Not bad. Here is the link to a site that explains more.
