Not in the military, but the personnel here are awesome. Have had the pleasure of working for quite a few of the local military families and they are always respectful and awesome customers. I think San Diego is blessed for having the military presense that it has.
I think the military is great for the socal economy. I got out of the USMC in 1996 and stayed here so it brings a lot of transplants which again helps the economy.

Currently active duty. Still have another four to go. Lots of military retire here due to the prevalence of government jobs and the chance to stay in the culture.
I'm in the Navy and love San Diego, I have been here almost my entire career and wouldn't want to be stationed anywhere else. This City supports its military!
I am active duty, as my handle suggests, and am consistently amazed at how this city treats the military. There are great events and traditions every year to honor present and past service members. It is an honor to live in a city that treats us with such gratitude.
I was stationed on a submarine at Point Loma until 86 when I got out. I immediately started work for SPAWARS, so same base. Been here since. When I showed up in San Diego in 1980, the locals were less than enthusiastic about sailors. We stuck out pretty bad then because if you weren't in the military, you had long hair. Times have changed and people have a different attitude about the military nationwide.
