Baby Fatalities

37% of all fatalities are babies who die in heated cars. Since 1996 150 babies have died, 72 of them this year. Recently in the texas town of Harlingen, a 2 yr old died in the car. The mother apparently left her inside while she intended to apply at the Target store. When she came back, the baby was dead

Whats wrong w/ our society today? Lugging around babies as if they're rag dolls. Do these parents forget that the babies are human as well? Is it that hard to carry your baby in the store? Or better yet....get a babysitter? Or leave it at home in the ventilated area?

Oh wow trying to get me up on my soapbox again, huh? I think you're great Durangobob.

First, just curious, but where did you get your statistics? Site your sources, sweetie, or else we'll think your grandmother made this up.

Second, I agree this is a terrible problem in Texas, not just during the summer months. You asked what is wrong with our society? I say, a whole bunch of things adding up to children dieing. Solutions that may help: an increase in free parenting classes and awareness campaigns about the dangers of leaving your child in a hot car, support and education for parents.

Being a parent is a hard job, being a single parent is just plain tough. Often parents can't afford a babysitter and then sometimes end up leaving children alone at home, where they can face other dangers. Our society is so isolationist and independent that families no longer have the support of extended family members or even neighbors to help with child care.

Well...

Well, recently like two days ago foxnews had a quick blurb on a story of her kid who had died. They stated the statistics, can't find 'em again yet...but here are some quick links just recently of similar incidents. Seems like they happen alot more than we care to know.

Offer to watch your friends kids. That will help. They say it takes a village and thats kind of what we have in San Marcos fortunatly. If she was filling out an app at Target she probably... 1. doesnt have any money for a babysitter and possibly diapers 2. Much of an education 3. anybody to watch the baby since most people know you would be frowned upon for taking your baby on a job interview although these mega marts claim to be family friendly!! Jjust try and find somewhere to nurse a baby that doesnt smell like someones ass exploded! AHH now Im getting on my soap box. If people want to help kids more HANG with them, Theyll blow your mind with coolness.. SAM
