The breakfast burritos at Cafe are damn good, but Herberts wins hands down!! Where is El Charro, I've never heard of it?

El Charro = best NKOTB mexi-food, and nice central-Mexico spin (the oranges on the rice for instance)

Mana's & Mana's #2 = Great food, generous portions, good price (and student discounts!)

Herberts = Good service, great food, FAST

The Taco Lady (Hopkins & RR12) = The best damn [cheap] burritos in the world!!! (kinda greedy with the salsa though)

Just my 2 cents...

Greengirl:

El Charro is across from the firestation and the P.O., where Habey's BBQ used to be.

I miss Habey's

Man if Hubert's isn't the best, I dunno what is! I like Huberts better than most mexican places in Austin even! It's close to Matt's el rancho imho.

I've only been there twice though, and Matt's once...but I really dig Huberts!!!

El Charro gets my vote for being the all around best.nice staff,Very good grub and reasonable $$$.Herberts IS very good but also a little pricey IMO.Manas is pure $hit, their taco sauce is like pencil shavings and water, disgusting their only redemeing factor is the fact you can bring in your own booze

Herberts, Rojilios, El Gulfo de Mexico are the best. Garcias is ok too. What ever you do, don't go to tortuga...terrible. Mamacitas is ok but it is really high, and too much gringo-ness.

Mamacitas

Mamacitas is mad tight, tho fo' reals. The people, the chatter, the service. Its all there, you need to strap yourself down w/ some cash tho, cause theyre prices be upscale, but money ain't a thing for a reall G.

If you on da cheapside, man, no one beats my momma's mom cooking she da best.

Herberts!!

Herberts is the best. I go there everytime I come back to San Marcos. Great food, good portions, good service and FAST!

If anyone is coming to Houston, i'll take a flour burrito dinner to go! And that same old lady still sits at the register, she rules!

Rojelio's Mexican Food Rocks.

Herberts...it's great. Been eating there since when the front room was the only room. Just for fun...Old Frank Herbert used to work for SWTSU in the administrative mail room. He delivered the friggin mail, and later decided to start selling breakfast tacos. Which, he did. After a few years he opened for dinner and the rest is history. His son, Bobby, now runs the place.

Okay, if you havent tried Rojelio's then ya need to. It's off of Guadalupe. I can't recall the exact street since I normally navigate these places by my nose....but I'll look it up and re-post the exact directions.

Cafe definately has serious breakfast tacos, still, the Taco Lady down at the corner of Bishop and Hopkins still has my vote for the best greasy tacos around...yes...they are stingy with the hot sauce.

That place across the street from the Fire Station is good too, and I like their morning taco special...three breakfast tacos for something like one dollar each I believe.

Bone appetite'

 i dunno, those local places are great, but i love mamacitas, i'm so white, even tho i'm hispanic. I guess i like the atmosphere and the people and noise....and it's not terribly bad...can't beat that green sauce tho.
