Yeehaw!

Thanks A2, this sort of thing happens all the time to me. I learn of some real cool or valuable thing locally after someone relatively new asked about it, and the person who I end up learning from will inevitably be a person I've known for years and somehow missed the information until now. Really cracks me up.

Anyway, San Marcos got garden!

Hi this is Sam the one that was in Jo on the go with Julie. We have had a plot at the garden for a couple of years now. The problem is people get a plot one year, work it a little and then lose interst time or something. I wish more people would garden there. Did you ever get a plot? Julie and I dream of growing enough to have a farmers market booth or giving it away to need(ier) people than us. Hope you got a hold of a plot, its hard work but VERY worth the effort.yum! Sam

Gardening is work

Heya Sam,

Yeah, I guess folks figure a garden would be cool, then they have to work it. For most folks, gardening basically consists of a few tomato plants in the window - which, is how I got started. Taking care of even a small space can take a decent amount of time and energy, and so a lot of folks find out it's more than they want to deal with once they wrestle with it awhile. It's a good thing the community garden is there for people to try out though.

How's your plot comming along?

We started with 3 now its just Julie and I. The garden is good I was hoping to work in it today but its too wet. Its too cold for summer stuff and pretty warm for the winter veggies. Typical Texas weather. I would love to know about these greenhouse designs of yours? Hows the art coming? Are you still out at green guy? ]Any other Gardeners out there? Sam

Well...

Greenhouse business good, considering it's rather new. I'd love to show you the design sometime, and maybe you could check out any of those we've already built.

This weather is fickle, but there are enough varieties of well-adapted veggies to choose from for this time of year. Most of the winter crops should be fine.

Haven't had the studio at Green Guy for a few years now, maybe two. Building a studio out here on my land right now. Yep, still doing art. Just finished the Blue Genie Art Bazzar in Austin, a great 10 day show, had a blast, great art, fun folks. The Blue Genie crew are my old buddies from high school, and we all grew up sculpting and doing creative things, so it was fun to participate in their highly successful show.

How's the midwifery?

Dont feed your cats chicken flavored cat food...

Midwifery is great, we have two babies we are fixin to " help out". Midwife humour. Blue Genie is cool, Iwasnt able to make it this year. Did you grow up with Arms and all that crew? Where is your land? Ya I would dig to see your plans. Im wanting to build a chicken house/Tortoises play haven cos the neighborhood cats ate all my chickens last year! I wanted to kill the cats but decided I wouldnt want my kids seeing that, ahhhh just kidding I have two cats. I love them even if they did eat Pretty and Nellie. well Im rambling now. Just got my Burpee and Seeds Of Change cataloges in the mail so ill be sofa gardening the next few nights! Take care SAM
