Metallica Sues Band Over Usage Of E, F Chords
Posted By Mindy Turner on 07.16.03

Just when you thought things couldn't get more bizarre.

According to MTV.com, Metallica are suing independant Canadian rockers Unfaith over what they call "unsanctioned usage of two chords [Metallica] have been using since 1982 : E and F."

"People are going to get on our case again for this, but try to see it from our point of view just once," stated drummer Lars Ulrich. He adds that they're not saying they own the two chords, individually - "that would be ridiculous" - just that in that specific order, people have grown to associate E, F with their music, and their continued usage in the same song causes "confusion, deception and mistake in the minds of the public."

You can read the whole surreal article here.

Metallica.com has issued an official statement on the subject here.

Metallica sues unknown band for breathing like they do:

"It's not like we own breathing or anything, but if you listen to the songs their breathing technique is the same as us. It's in and out, in and out. We are just wanting what's rightfully ours."

Metallica is sueing the unknown band for 98% of any past, present and future profits

You've got to get your stories confirmed before you post it.

-taken from blabbermouth.net

Here's hoping that this will put a stop to the countless e-mails we have received on this subject: A fake METALLICA news story currently making the rounds via the Internet has the San Francisco metallers suing Canadian rockers UNFAITH over "unsanctioned usage of two chords METALLICA have been using since 1982: E and F." Satirical online magazine ScoopThis.com was responsible for concocting the unbelievable tale, which has been picked up by several legitimate news outlets, including Ananova, MacDailyNews.com (both articles since removed) and DotMusic.com. Check out the FAKE story from "MTV.com" and "Metallica.com".

i still hate them.

heh no

actually i knew it was fake from the beginning, because the links do not direct to mtv.com...obviously someone went through alot of work to make it look real. What i meant that it is believable is because the nature of who metallica is!. they new album is crap, they are crap, and are just in it for the money. So if this happens for real, i wouldn't be surprised, but i wouldn't care either way cause i'll never buy any of their albums again..they're crap

I agree

Yeah I'm gonna agree with you on that dbob. Metallica has shown that they're music is based on bankin'it rather than just playing for their fans or even for their own love for music. I think this ?ause of the whole napster thing and now all the other issues like putting mp3 downloaders in court and banning it.
