It kind of depends where you want to be going, Suffolk is quite large. Obviously Montauk has some of the best spots (Gurneys, Gossmans, Lobster Deck [seasonal], etc.), I've always heard good things...

Yeah I'm fairly new to homebrewing about 1 year, mini-mashes mostly. Depending on where you are you can get a nice starter kit (in person) in Islip at Arbor Wine & Beer.
