Here's one for you. Tupperware was started in Traverse City mid 1800's making wooden bowls. They had to move to Tupper NY when all the wood ran out in michigan after the fire and logging.

Have you every been to the Jorden river valley? It's very nice and the North country Trail runs right through the middle. You can also mountain bike there as well.
