Not strictly cajun, but my favorite NOLA restaurant is Boucherie where Iris used to be on Jeanette. Prices are way cheaper than a FQ place and the food just as good, maybe better

Also in mid-city and excellent: Pandora's for snoballs, after a hot day at City Park, or Brocato for ice cream. Liuzza's is also a one of my favorite spots to grab an Abita Amber in a frozen glass.
