Have you rooted your Android phone?

All you android users have you rooted your phone?

I got fed up with my phone being slow and not working very well.

So I rooted it and flashed a new ROM (OS) on to it last night. It now looks great and runs super fast. So many phone companies put all this bloatware on phones now.

My new os is caynogenmod 7.1.0 Here is a screen shot.

I would show you a before screen shot but Screen shots are disabled with a factory ROM.

When I get back to town, I'm hoping you will provide full instructions on how to do this!

Good call Hav, and is there a way to reflash the factory settings in case the rooting goes awry? I have a droid phone assigned to me from work and its basically a big ole paperweight. I have picked up a few gimmicky (albeit cool) apps - but that phone gets pretty much NO usage.

Yes The cyanogen guys have most of the factory ROMs on the web site. Of not there then over at XDA devlopers they have them. Instructions are different for each brand and model of phones.

No support for Thunderbolts. Just as well, I plan on running out my warranty first.

I've really wanted to. My phone is constantly driving me crazy, but I am just worried that I am going to screw the whole thing up and brick it. Then I'm really screwed because I definitely can't afford to pay full price for a new one. What phone did you just root?

I bought an LG Exceed for $15 from Best Buy just for wifi use. After rooting I could never get it partitioned right, but it's OK for what I want to use it for. I mostly use the camera and for streaming music from the internet via a chip amp I got off aliexpress for $7 plus change for amp, power supply and connecting audio cable.
