Mountain Biking in Tenn

How is the mountain biking in Tenn? I live in the northeast and we have some awesome trail riding. We are thinking of relocating and are gathering information about some of the areas we are considering. A place that allows year round trail riding would be a great bonus!

Thanks

There's literally hundreds of miles of trails here. Many trails in the state parks, I have a 4500 Trek and don't ride much, but do all trails with it.

Mountain bike in Nashville

There are many good trails in and within a short drive of Nashville. They usually have well marked trails and sections for all skills. *NOTE* the middle TN area is NOT flat, but not mountainous. Expect some hills.

Lock Four hosts annual Xterra events and other races.

Hamilton Creek. Right in Nashville but you'll feel like the trails are miles from the city. The higher skilled section is over 5 miles and has a lot of serious technical sections.

Montgomery Bell. Some of the freshest trails around with camping in the same park.

Fairvue Bowie Nature Park. Not far from Monty Bell and very good trails.

Biking in TN

West TN has several places to bike. But our winters are not always mild. Biking all year round may be a challenge

Yes, I wouldn't plan to get on many trails in middle TN from December until April. The rain is just frequent enough to keep the trails in bad shape. We get a few days here and there but not enough.

As others have pointed out, Tennessee is a pretty fine place for mountain biking. Since our state is very centered on forestry products and a timber industry, there are often endless miles of old logging roads and in some places, old mining roads and railroad right aways that are no longer used.
