Fredericksburg

What's the best time of year to visit? I know its kind of an oxymoron, but I'm looking for when the tourists are all gone.

My wife and I love the town and area, but not the shopping, hussle and bussle.

I'm thinking September would be good, around our Anniversary.

thoughts?

Can't help you about the time of year but all I ever hear from anyone is "You've got to go stay there".

well if you are into wine and the vineyards, march, april and may are great. i have been to fredericksburg many times with my wife and we love visiting there. typically we get up there around the end of march, early april sometime.

as with anything in south texas, it gets mighty hot mighty quick, so unless you enjoy walking around in 100+ degree heat, i wouldn't recommend it in the middle of summer.
