While I am a citizen of Texas (21 years), I have a problem with some of the Texans that claim "Texas is the best state in the union!" After talking to them more and asking what other states they may have visited or lived in I get the reply "None!"
Texas does have alot going for it but modesty is not one of them. Several states have better beaches, Galveston is not what one thinks of when the word beach comes to mind. Scenery? Once, again other states are prettier. Most of the people here in Houston are here for the jobs. The economy hasn't suffered quite as much as the rest of the nation. Land is still relatively cheap, which means real estate is a bargin compared to most other states. Personally I'd prefer someplace in the mountians of Tennessee... Not as hot in the summer, nice scenery and great people.

No, we certainty don't value modesty as much as the lesser states.
when I left for Switzerland I was sure to take my boots with me and everyone I met, I made sure they knew where I was from.
Even walking down the street one day group of girls stopped me and were like, "your that kid from Texas everyone keeps talking about." just smiled and said hell yeah.
