I did a fuel pressure test and the pressure was a little low so I replaced the fuel filter and fixed that... Still no start, so I did a spark test on the coil that was fine and moved on to a spark test to the plugs, well there was no spark. So I replaced the distributer and fixed the spark problem, but to my luck still no start. She has compression and she wants to start, she just can't. Ideas?

Hey, its Greg with the white XJ. Yesterday was fun, thanks everyone.

That sucks about your Jeep Chris, maybe try posting in the YJ tech section of JF?
I am looking at the troubleshooting part of my Haynes manual, its suggesting checking your automatic choke or that there might be a timing issue. Everything else its suggesting, you've tried already so idk. Good luck.

Did you check for fault codes? I'm guessing, based on the thousands of posts on JF, is that it is either the CPS, the wires leading to the CPS, of the little wire within the distributor that works in conjunction with the CPS.

No check engine light came on so I cant check the codes. Im gonna try changing my timing 180 and see if that works. Yes I asked the JF nation and only 1 person replied and had the same idea about the timing.

Well if messing with the timing doesn't do it, definitely look at the crankshaft position sensor. When mine went out it was very sudden like yours, but it was able to restart eventually and usually stay running under heavy throttle, so I'm not sure if thats whats wrong with yours but its worth a shot.

'91. Well my boss gave me the day off. So if anyone feels giddy enough to come help me that would rock. But other then that I'm going to spend the day stuck trying to figure this out.

Are you sure you put the distributor back in right, did you bring it up tdc remove old and install new pointing to number 1? Have you done the cps yet, or tested the resistance on it? Take a look at these links.

Flip your key three times, and let the brain tell you what the problem is.
