It's very old school
One of the best!
My sister used to own a nice ski house in Moretown.
Mad River is a time capsule!

Their best runs are still accessed by a single chairlift. Not just one chairlift, I mean a one seat chairlift.
They do precious little grooming. They blow even less snow. riponred hit it on the head, a time capsule. And an outstanding day. Wehn all trails are open, you can beat yourself to a pulp. I skied there in -26 degrees with whipping winds once. That was the only time it wasn't a perfect day.
If you are over 30, bring a knee brace for the ride home.

Bob, I think I like the way you think.
The single chair is the only way to go.
I spent a lot of time riding t-bars in my younger days.

Wouldn't recommend going on a weekend and wouldn't recommend early season. Doubt it's open yet. Considerable line wait on weekends may as well go to sugarbush where the lifts run faster.
But MadRiverGlen is the only mountain i'm interested in. That's real skiing

I love MRG, Its got some of the most challenging technical runs in NE.

If your looking for a place to stay, call my buddy Alex at the SlideBrook Lodge. cheap and has a built in bar!!

MRG is great. I gravitate to it not just because of the back country ski access, but it is one of the few resorts still standing with the hard corpse ski personailty; old buildings, ripped couches and furniture, smell of beer and boots, cheap burger, etc.
