Hello, I just answered this same question about New Jersey. Great idea to ask people before you leave on this trip. I do hope you're doing this trip for real. ---->Find Chimney Point on Lake Champlain. It's opposite Crown Point, New York. Take the free ferry (because they blew the bridge in Jan. 2010) and go south to the Otter Creek Bird Sanctuary. Very cool, if you like birds. Kira
If you really want to have a great time go to Eden dogsledding......AWESOME doggies and beutiful remote wild VT !! Dress warm and oh yeah dont rely on your gps to get there !!! It will send you down roads only open during the summer months and it really ticks off the snowmobilers when they find a SUV stuck in their trail!
As others have mentioned, there are great factory tours and factory stores for Ben and Jerry's, Cabot Cheese, and numerous small wineries and breweries.
But along with the commercial one cannot forget the amazing natural features of Vermont, like Lake Champlain in the summer, every type of winter activity (skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing), and vast state and national lands that are great for hiking and camping (where allowed).
