Third (or fourth?) the GW national forest for fun, EASY wheeling. There are lots of trails - but I've been told that recently they're shutting down a lot of the trails/camp sites, making it a lot harder to get back in there and have fun. A friend mentioned something about big fines if they catch you off the marked trails, but I haven't done any research about the truth in it yet.

Hey sampac13 and 97jeepzj, you folks should get up with NOVA Jeepers, good people up your way.

You can join their forum here: Northern Virginia Jeepers Association ? Community Forums ? Home

For you Richmond folks, X2 on Southside Jeepers, great bunch of people, we wheel with them as often as we can. Some of their members are in this thread, BGSXEE and bluerubicon08.

Forum is here: http://southsidejeepers.freeforums.org/

Be well,
Richard

Yep, the GWNF has plenty of trails.
We go camping and wheeling out there. We found this couple from NJ once in the GWNF west of Harrisonburg just over the WV line that had driven a rental Ford Focus down onto a trail and couldn't get back up. We tried to have them follow us out the other side but it was blocked by another convoy of wheelers. We towed them back up the side we had come in and they drove that thing home with no damage! It was funny stuff that day.
