Luray caverns / airport question

Hi,

My family and I would like to fly a small airplane into the Luray airport and visit the Caverns. I have a few questions related to that:

1. Is there transportation from the airport to the caverns available?
2. How long does the average person take to visit the caverns?
3. Is there a place to stay / eat nearby that's nice?

Thank you.

Give the caverns a couple of hours to visit.
What airport are you looking to fly into? They may be a courtesy car, or rental agency on site.

Thank you for the response. We were considering flying into Luray Caverns airport (W45). I assume there's a place to eat near the caverns?

There are a couple restrauants in Luray. It is just a small town. Not sure if they have any rental cars at the airport. It is probably about 2-3 miles from the ariport to the caverns. They are both on the west side of town. There are a couple of hotels/motels in town also.

W45 website states:
"Free courtesy transportation is provided to and from Luray Caverns, Caverns Country Club and affiliated attractions, restaurants and motels, all located one mile from the airport. Rental cars can be arranged in advance."

Luray is a small town with nice people. The caverns were a lot of fun to visit for me, I'm sure you will feel the same. The town of Luray is nearby where there are some mom and pop food shops, also nearby there is a Burger King I think.

If you visit Luray and will be renting a car, I recommend taking a drive on nearby Skyline Drive. There is some amazing blue ridge mountain scenery there.

Also, if you enjoy wine, there are many wineries in that area worth visiting. A map of Virginia wineries is available at http://www.virginiawine.org/news_rel...oah_Valley.pdf

If you're looking for a nice place to stay/eat, I'd suggest the Mimslyn Inn
