As previously stated, Washington is an "open carry" State.
When I conceal-carry with permit, I do so because I deem it appropriate for where I'm going and what I'm doing.
During these times, as someone else noted, I too do not want to talk about my functional, defensive side arm with anyone.
Occassionally I have considered wearing my OWB hoster with a blue training gun.
I think this would encourage discussions and demonstrate a point.
On somewhat likely chance another citizen saw my blue training gun and did ask a LEO to talk to me about "that blue thing the holster" on my waist, any officer will recognize the lack of threat immediately.
I often wonder if a few hundred like-minded people should get together, hire some press (like they do for the "Great American Smoke Out" or some other cause) and coordinate an open carry blue gun day, week or even a month.
What are the pros and cons to something like that?
Who would you like to organize it? The local NRA folks? Some other group?
I'm afraid I wouldn't be interested in something like that. Like I said, I really don't see a point in open carrying - I'm 100% for concealed carries, but I just can't justify in my head enough pro's going for open carry.

I agree with Jake7;
In the same vain; my hunting is done with a handgun. Once you carry one for awhile; ''I" forget that I have it with me.
Going into a resturant; fast food; gas statiion. wow weeee; hell; I've even lost it; only to realize; it is in the holster; tied to my side.
My concealed carry permit doesn't cover this blunder.

I don't see the need to open carry. I'm comfortable with who I am and I don't want to get in a confrontation with someone with low self-esteem who may confront me because I'm "showing-off" my weapon.
Hey Scallywag! Hah I like the name. I'm in the Marine Corps - you're stationed up in Washington? I'm out on Oahu right next to Pearl Harbor - you ever been cycled through here?

I was on the Greeneville from '99-'02 and on the staff of Commander Submarine Squadron 3 from '02-'04. I used to live in Pearl City Peninsula housing. Love the 13th hole on Kaneohe!
