This charming Greek revival home was built in Marietta, Georgia in 1851 by Col. Arnoldus Brumby. Col. Brumby was the first Georgia Military Institute superintendent who directed the institute for eight years since 1851. He had the house constructed right next to the institute property.

Throughout the Civil War, the Brumby Hall was used as a hospital for wounded soldiers. Sherman’s army burned most of the buildings in the institute and only the Brumby Hall remained. This may be due to the fact that Brumby was a friend to Sherman during their years at West Point.

Brumby Hall is now owned by the city and serves as a facility for special events like weddings, parties, and other social gatherings. And while people are not required to pay an admission fee during tours, donations are always welcome. The home is now being managed by Marietta Conference Center and Resort.
