The Florence Marina State Park is a state park and recreation area in Omaha, Georgia. It is best known for its offers of excellent water recreation.
The Florence Marina State Park takes its name after the old town of Florence which once stood in the area. Later renamed as Liverpool, Florence was incorporated in 1837 and was quite successful with its own hotel, bank, newspaper, and even a bridge that links it to Alabama. It declined after the flood of 1846, but there are still a number of homes scattered in the area.
The Florence Marina State Park mainly features the 45,000 acre Walter F. George Lake. It is open to a wide array of activities including fishing, boating, and waterskiing. Bird watching is also very popular at the park.
