Experience science learning the fun way at National Science Center?s Fort Discovery in downtown Augusta in Richmond County in state of Georgia.

Popularly known as Fort Discovery, this 128,000-square foot children?s science museum and exhibition center was opened in 1997. It currently stands on the site of an old shopping mall, the former Shoppes at Port Royal. Fort Discovery has over 250 interactive exhibits in its galleries. Children will enjoy science learning through various hands-on scientific concept demonstrations. The center?s attractions include rides such as the human gyroscope, high-wire bicycle, and space moon walk. Each interactive exhibits walk the children through several scientific principles in the fields of physics, chemistry and electricity. In late 2003, the center was in danger of shutting down but state funding saved it in 2004.
