The Jekyll Island is a historic island that played a huge role in the development of today?s society. It was originally built for an exclusive elite club for the upper class, making it inevitable for historic events to take place in its area.

Initial plans for building a private club in Jekyll Island were initiated in the early 1880s. The development of the site started in 1886, and the clubhouse was completed in 1888. Members of the elite group included big names like Pulitzer, Vanderbilt, Morgan, and Rockefeller.

Historic events that happened on Jekyll Island include the first transcontinental telephone call made by AT&T president, Theodore Vail in 1915, the development of the National Monetary Commission?s Aldrich Vreeland Act in 1908, and the drafting meeting for the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1910.
