The Halona Blowhole is something that resembles a geyser, although, it is technically a narrow, lava tube that causes the water to shoot up whenever the tide is high and the winds are strong. It is a very popular tourist spot, as evidenced by the very large parking lot to aptly accommodate the throngs of visitors who come every day to see the unscheduled water explosions. To watch the blowhole do its work, visitors are placed on top of a hill overlooking the spot.

The Halona Blowhole lookout is also ideal for other things. People can also view here the exit of the humpback whales as they leave the North Pacific for the winter. Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles also swim around this area a lot.
