A bronze sculpture welcomes visitors in front of the Hawaii Convention Center and serves as a symbol of the generosity and friendliness of the people of Hawaii. This 1.1 million square foot recreation center is built on 10 acres of land along the Ala Wai Canal in Waikiki. It features a modern architectural design of steel and glass, with local Hawaiian vegetation surrounding it. Almost 6 acres are covered with tasteful landscaped grounds, lanais, terraces, and quads. Inside, you will find 800 parking spaces, an exhibit hall with the size of 200,000 square feet, a ballroom and meeting hall that is 140,000 square feet and a rooftop garden. The Hawaii Convention Center also features several paintings of mountains, volcanoes, ocean, taro, fishponds and waterfalls. You will also see images of famous gods, myths and Hawaiian royalties adorning its walls. Looking up, you will see that the rooftop canopies were also designed to tell a part of the island?s culture about the Polynesian seafarers.
