The Appaloosa Museum was formed in 1975 to collect, preserve, study and exhibit artifacts and information that educates and illustrate the history of the Appaloosa horse and its region of origin. The museum is a non-profit organization and is located in the heart of Palouse Country which is home to the Appaloosa breed.

The museum?s modern equipment and facility offers visitors an exhibit area, a theater, hands-on kid?s area, library and archive highlighting books, magazines and videos and the Appaloosa trading post gift shop. The exhibits in the museum houses early evidence of spotted horses in art and literature, to the relationship between appaloosa and the Nez Perce Indians and features of the modern Appaloosa Horse Club.

Visitors will be able to tour the outdoor Appaloosa exhibit that runs from the middle of May to the middle of October where tourists will get to enjoy the outdoor visitor viewing area which consists of picnic tables, benches and shade trees where you can enjoy a snack while viewing two live Appaloosas.
The Appaloosa Museum is open to school groups and youth groups where the museum offers a standard program that last around an hour with a short lecture followed by an exploration of the museum.
