The Clearwater Historical Museum houses a collection focusing on the people and history of Clearwater River County as well as its surrounding areas. This includes Clearwater County and parts of Lewis, Nez Perce, Idaho, and Shoshone Counties.

The Museum aims to share the legacy of the Clearwater River drainage that began even before history was recorded. The artifacts in the collection are connected to the Nez Perce People, the Lewis and Clark Expedition, early homesteading, gold mining, logging, farming, and many more. Among these are more than 4,500 historical photographs, gold mining history and tools, Chinese artifacts, Orofino newspapers from 1899, Dworshak Dam, Stamp mill, antique guns, Helgeson Hotel memorabilia, fine China, and others.
