In Soda Springs, Idaho rests what is believed to be the largest man-made geyser in the country. The creation of the geyser is actually accidental.
The man-made geyser started in 1937 when one local was drilling around to find heated water that is needed for that construction of his swimming pool. The activities hit an underground chamber filled with pressurized carbon dioxide and gas, causing the water to ?erupt? or shoot upwards.
Being man-made, the authorities were able to control the geyser today. They only turn it on for shows when the wind is right, because otherwise, the water will blow to the streets and businesses.
The man-made geyser is scheduled to perform ?hydramatics? every hour, every day. There?s also an adjacent Visitors Center, so guests could learn more about the attraction.
