In the past, 19th century travelers and emigrants fear these rock formations, which earned it its strangely morbid name. Today, the Massacre Rocks is a scenic and peaceful state park that visitors from all over the country love to visit.
Located in the small city of American Falls in Power Country, Idaho, Massacre State Park is a popular tourist destination and recreational park. It got its name from a narrow passageway named by the early travelers who feared ambush from early Native Americans. With a history of being a rest stop among weary travelers, this park contains the aptly named ?Register Rock?, a large rock in the site where these travelers inscribed their names during their stop. This rock is now protected and preserved.
Activities in the park include camping both in cabins and outdoors, hiking, wildlife watching, and golfing.
