If you want to experience a true countryside state fair, then head on and mingle with the friendly farm animals at the Western Idaho Fair in Boise, Idaho. This fair from the nation?s agricultural state features agricultural expo and cultural shows that have been running since 1897, which makes it one of the oldest in the United States.

The Western Idaho Fair?s humble beginnings can be traced to the Idaho Intermountain Fair in 1897. Like most state fairs in the nation, Idaho?s version began as a farm and livestock expo ? a tradition that has remained unchanged until the modern times. Every year, sheep, horses, cattle, chicken, and pigs mingle with excited Idaho natives and tourists. Aside from livestock shows, the fair also showcases Idaho crops, arts, culture, cuisine, and tradition. There are also rodeo shows such as Boise Stampede, horse races, and shows from singers and performers.
