Clinton Lake State Recreation Area is a popular wildlife viewing and water recreation area in Central Illinois. It is located in DeWitt county and is part of the Illinois State Park system.
The Clinton Lake State Recreation Area?s land is owned by Amergen, which has a nuclear power plant in the area, and operated through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The park is a popular fishing area among locals and tourists in the region. The 4,900 acre lake is the central attraction of this park. Fishing in the lake produces a variety of catches including crappie, catfish, striped bass, walleye, stripers, largemouth bass, and smallmouth bass.
Other activites popular in the park includes boating, swimming, and water skiing. There are also trails available for hikers and picnic areas for families and groups.
