A masterpiece by Lorado Taft, the Fountain of Time was built in celebration of the centennial of the peace between the US and Great Britain. It was dedicated in 1922, after almost 15 years of Taft working on it.

According to sources, the Fountain of Time was inspired by the poem, “Paradox of Time” written by Henry Austin Dobson. It measures exactly 126 feet and 10 inches in length. It sits inside the Washington Park as a contributing structure to the said Historic District, making it also a part of the National Register of Historic Places.

The Fountain of Time is one of the most impressive sculptures in the United States with its careful detail and excellent workmanship. This is why efforts in restoration and preservation of the piece continues, as it tends to get damaged by the harsh urban and outdoor elements through time.
