The Henson Robinson Zoo was constructed in 1968 and it officially opened its doors to the public on August 20, 1970. Since then, the zoo has grown and expanded with the installment of new exhibits, programs, activities and several new animals kept in the zoo.

Today, the zoo houses more than 300 animals that are native to Australia, Asia, Africa and North and South America. There are also over 90 different species of exotic and native animals are kept in the Henson Robinson Zoo together with naturalistic exhibits. The zoo engages in scientific research studies and preservation efforts in addition to offering a fun and educational conditions for the public.

Because of the Henson Robinson Zoo?s genuine and professional standards for animal care, wildlife conservation, education and science, the Henson Robinson Zoo has joined more than 200 other zoos that have been building North America?s biggest wildlife conservation movement. The zoo was accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums or better known as AZA, they are the leading accrediting organization for zoos and aquariums.
