Enjoy a day at the beach in the middle of Chicago! Amidst the contemporary metropolitan and the urban vibe of Chicago lies the Oak Street Beach. It?s a man-made beach created in 1890. Ever since, it?s been an inviting site for residents and tourists. They come here to enjoy the soft sands and refreshing waters of Lake Michigan.

Oak Street Beach is actually just one of about 26 beaches in the city. But it?s the most popular mainly because of its good location, which is at Streeterville and Oak Street Beach Gold Coast neighborhoods. Besides being highly populated, both areas have glorious views of Chicago's downtown.

Located just north of the city's famed Magnificent Mile, Oak Street Beach is now maintained by the Chicago Park District. The stretch of sand at this beach is wide and accommodates lots of sunbathers. Young people gather on fashionable Oak Street Beach for high-energy games of beach volleyball and the area is also popular with cyclists, roller blades, and joggers.
