Built as a measure to improve the community’s situation in the early 70s, the Oz Park was created. It was in honor of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz author, Lyman Frank Baum, who lived just a couple of miles away from where the park stands today.

The Oz Park is filled with characters from the books, thus the name. It has Dorothy and Toto, the Tin Man, the Scare Crow, and the Cowardly Lion. Installations started in the 90s, after commissioning the artist John Kearney for the sculptures.

Aside from the works of art, the Oz Park also has the Emerald Garden and Dorothy’s Playlot. These two areas are perfect for families, with the playground filled with play equipment, and the garden where beautiful flowers grow.
