The Johnny Gruelle Raggedy Ann & Andy Museum opened in May 1999 in Arcola. Up to the present, it is the only officially licensed Raggedy Ann & Andy Museum in the whole world. The Museum aims to achieve the preservation of the life and times of Johnny Gruelle, the man responsible for creating the storybook characters that have brought excitement and fun to children all over the world. In doing so, it also aims to promote the values, inspiration, and sense of imagination that popularized the characters as an American institution.

The Museum houses a massive collection of rare Raggedy Ann & Andy memorabilia. The collection includes paintings, dolls, Japanese keepsakes, and other items that help depict the history of Raggedy. Visitors to the Museum will be able to see the exhibit showing the many sides of Johnny Gruelle, including his passions, interests, and family photos. There is also the recreation of Marcella?s playroom, where Raggedy Ann and her adventures were born. Another interesting and enjoyable are is the recreation of the Deep Deep Woods as well, where many of the beloved doll?s adventures took place.
