The Snakeden Hollow State Fish and Wildlife Area is a state park and wildlife preserve in Victoria, Illinois. The site features 2500 acres of area that was once a surface mining site for coal.
Some people may worry about visiting the Snakeden Hollow State Fish and Wildlife Area thinking that it is filled with snakes as the name suggests. However, the name mostly refers to a small creek that snakes through the park and not to actual snakes being abundant in the site. The site was acquired in 1987 from the Midland Coal Company and with the help of the Soil Conservation Service, the land was transformed into a wildlife paradise.
Visitors of the Snakeden Hollow State Fish and Wildlife Area can enjoy fishing, hunting, and boating at the park.
