The Washington County State Recreation Area is a state park and recreation area in Nashville, Illinois. It covers 1140 acres worth of area.
Initially created with a measly 160 acres of natural area in 1959, the Washington County State Recreation Area grew into its current setup as time went by. The lake was added a year later, attracting more visitors with the variety of things to see and do while at the park.
Today, the Washington County State Recreation Area offers a good amount of recreational activities. Visitors can enjoy hiking through its 7 mile marked trail, boating on the 248-acre lake, fishing, camping, hunting, picnicking, or have some quiet time at the lake?s 13-mile shoreline. Lodging facilities are also available.
