The Water Tower Place is a high-end shopping center in Michigan Avenue, Chicago along the famous Magnificent Mile. The 758,000 square feet mall has eight-level atrium which is extended above with 74-storey high building. The building is owned by General Growth Properties and is named after the Chicago Water Tower. The idea of building the tower in 1960 was initiated by Mafco Company. Until 1975, the tower was built by the Urban Retail Properties as contractor. In 1986, this construction project even received J.C. Nichol Prize.

The 74-floor tower is home to luxury condominium units and the famous Ritz-Carlton Hotel. There are also floor spaces open for commercial offices and conference hall. When it was newly built, the Water Tower Place was considered as the ?tallest reinforced building? in the world. Today, it is considered as the eight tallest building in Chicago while ranked as the 26th tallest building in the entire United States.

This premier place is one of the most sought shopping destinations not just in Chicago but also in the state of Illinois. Below the 74-storey structure is an atrium mall where there is variety of brands to shop. There are unique shopping outlets which can be found only in Water Tower Place?s mall. Several of which are the flagship store of American Girl, Forever 21, Macy?s, Victoria?s Secret, official Chicago Cubs Clubhouse shop, The Limited, and Oakley. It has more than 100 shops to choose from plus the mall?s food court which offers multiple restaurants and caf?. Some of the full-packed restaurants in the mall are Wow Bao and Mity Nice Grill. It also features a live theater and a department store. The building is serviced by glass elevators with separate entries to different levels of atrium.
